Jersey Breed
Associations

The AJF exists, in part, to help bring together existing Jersey Breed societies in Africa as well as to support newly established or aspirational national breed associations as they emerge in the region. Existing regional Jersey breed associations include the following:

Jersey SA

Jersey SA was established in 1920 and today comprises approximately 140 members. Jersey SA is the only registered society for the Jersey breed in South Africa, focusing on promotion, breeding and production aspects, and maintaining and improving breed standards. Jersey SA aims to be the mother society of Africa and as such can facilitate the export of approved breeding stock to other African countries and can offer registration facilities to fellow African countries, providing advice and assistance where needed. With an estimated 500,00 Jerseys in the country, Jersey SA compiles and maintains accurate records of the pedigrees and performance particulars of all animals duly registered through the South African Jersey Herd Book.
